I'm thinking of doing this - I went with my friend when she did this and thought it looked really interesting.

As long as you are not being ripped off / overcharged and you are doing it with someone reputable.

My reiki teacher does past life regressions, and I would be happy to do those with him as I have known him for several years and know his level of experience etc. However it is a good idea to check the qualifications of the person doing the regressions - they are going to be messing with you psychologically, after all!

FWIW I started to remember some past lives, and it has been both illuminating and sometimes distressing.

I was left, as a 9 year old boy, to die, alone except for my faithful dog, who stayed with me! We have been reunited in this life, under really weird circumstances, which is lovely. (Yes I am aware that I sound like a lunatic, but I promise I'm not much). Not sure how I died, and the overriding impression I get is just of being so grateful that my dog stayed with me, and feeling her fur, and then a sense of peace. Often when I take her for walks I get the unnerving impression that I am about a foot too tall, the wrong gender and in the wrong time...

Also a life as a flat capped gardener on the estate of a large house near where I live now...(roughly 18 century)

Also as a rather learned black man with lots of children!

It is a fascinating subject, enjoy! I used to wet myself laughing at people going on about 'past lives' however now I am one of them, that's karma I suppose!

Sorry LaurieFairyCake, did I put you off?!

mrsmharket · 07/05/2010 12:09

would like to do this as i feel there are some nagging issues i should deal with in this life before dragging them on again not sure how to find someone reputable and trustworthy. are you going laurie?

BessieBoots · 07/05/2010 12:13

I bought a CD off ebay - you listen to it and it's meant to regress you. I thought it would be rubbish but my brother and I have had success with it.

I was in a field with my husband and children- we were mongolian (I think), and my husband was stunning with long black silky hair. Some soldiers in weird masks came and took him away.

mrsmharket · 07/05/2010 12:14

oh no

BessieBoots · 07/05/2010 12:15

It's weird, I don't know if it's real, but even if it isn't, I find it interesting that my subconcious would come up with that specific story.

mrsmharket · 07/05/2010 12:29

probably is real there are quite afew people with past life memories but are quite reluctant to talk about it and put it down to a weird dream perhaps

Nemofish · 07/05/2010 18:10

Ooh BessieBoots, fascinating!

Have you researched it? Have a look around and see what you can find.

Oooh how fun! I can recommend Dr Brian Weiss regression meditation, a friend lent it to me but I am sure you can get it on the web somewhere. Also Doreen virtue does a past life regression with the angels, also a good one.
I have uncovered a few past life (or maybe even simultaneous life perhaps?) memories and then discussed them with other people, who either think I am crazy or don't want to know. But, it doesn't matter what they say it's what I think that counts. I wholeheartedly believe in them.

I had a memory flashback thing during one meditation that I was an indian and I had been shot by an arrow, I was in a river and it was my mum who was holding onto me and propping me up. She was standing behind me. When I told her this she told me that she had always had a fear of arrows.

Hi indigobarbie!

I became convinced while having ear candling done that me and my reiki teacher (he was doing the candling) had been brother and sister in a past life, as American Indians / First Nation people, several hundred years ago. As I say I was utterly convinced during the treatment, but as I came round after it, it seemed a bit embarrassing and silly. I didn't mention anything to him and now I really wish I had!

ThatVikRinA22 · 07/05/2010 23:56

i did this once. load of bunkum imo - and the spiritualist lady i see every 2 years of so says its not accurate - she says when your in a hypnotic state you are an open vessel to any spirit roaming around out there - so it might not be your past life your seeing.

i dont think mine was particularly accurate.

indigobarbie · 08/05/2010 13:56

Yo Nemo!

Thought I'd add that once you uncover some memories it can actually help you realise some things about your life or attitudes to things. It can, for some peops be helpful

mrsmharket · 11/05/2010 11:22

i would also add that you need to be very careful about doing a past life regression on your own, please consider using a registered practitioner to help you get out of situations that you need to get out of quickly.

edwardcullensotherwoman · 11/05/2010 12:38

Thanks Laurie for bringing up a thread about this - have you decided to do it yet?

I've considered it ever since reading Dr Brian Weiss's Many Lives, Many Masters - it's a case study about a woman who has all sorts of fears; he tries regression as a last resort, and it helps her to understand and overcome the fears she has, as she finds that each one has come from a past life.

I'd like to do it to find out my connection to a particular person in my life - crazy and cliche, I know but I'm convinced that we're connected further back than this life. I also think DS has been here before (I had a friend who seemed to pick up on people's souls, he told me that DS had an old soul the first time he met him, when DS was just a few weeks old.) For a 2yo, he has a lot of wisdom in his eyes, it's quite strange. Anyway, I'm rambling

mrsmharket · 12/05/2010 13:00

not rambling at all
