Do any of you have a specific saint that you are drawn too? As an artist my patron is St Luke but I find myself fascinated more by women saints like Milburga and Winifred.

Do you think they are really God's chosen and elevated by Him or simply very special people from history? After all, we all meet people in life that stand out and seem more 'elevated'... And obv there are 20th Century Saints too ? they're not all 'historical'

I'm not sure what I think about the claims of supernatural things happening to the bodies like heads being rejoined to bodies or their corpses remaining unblemished. I do love all the allegory and Iconography surrounding them though.

No one?

I'm not Catholic btw if this is relevant.

Maybe i should have just entitled it 'who's your favourite saint?

St Anthony. Finder of lost things.....very useful whenever DH asks me where he put X or Y

I think St. Josephine Bakhita has an amazing life story.

fwiw ? I don?t think the saints are particularly perople chosen by God (I believe that we are all chosen by God) ? I think it is more the other way round and I think of the saints as people who chose God.

We have a fair amount of icons - we're culturally Greek Orthodox, although actually quite staunch atheists. DH and the DCs all have saints names, and I like having 'their' icons, it feels lucky (atheist but not altogether logical I know

Saints are interesting historical figures, some of whom have some truly tragic lives - persecution for whatever reason is always disturbing.
