I was at the funeral of a relative recently and noticed a very large statue of the pope . just wondered if this is in a lot of chapels now or just this particular one.?.
Benedict the statue was a bit creepy imo.

It was possibly a statue of someone like St Patrick (normally shown dressed in bishop's robes) or possibly St Peter or one of the other popes who was canonised. I can promise you that there are no statues of the current pope in Catholic churches!

What jcscot said. Probably Peter.

I second Jcscot and abride

I have never heard of a statue of a pope in a church.

Bumbleconfusus · 30/03/2010 00:14

Would be quite expensive considering popes life expectancies. We only have a print of painting or a photo of the Pope in the parish rooms.

the church was called st pius of...( somthing or other). the statue had white and red robes on. was about 4 feet high....very large . It did look like benedict. strange coincedince
