Church of Scotland Funeral - how much is an acceptable donation?

Can anyone help please? My grandfather died yesterday and the funeral will be on Wednesday. As far as I'm aware there won't be a church service as such(I won't be able to attend as it's in Glasgow and I'm in Salisbury and heavily pregnant), just graveside. My gran has no idea how much of a donation she should give the minister. She's a pensioner on income support and so I don't want to advise her to give too much but neither do I want her to feel embarassed by the amount she gives. Any advice appreciated.

Sorry for your loss, perhaps speak to the funeral director for guidance.

Sorry for your loss.

My Dad was a CofS minister and though I can't remember clearly, I don't think that funeral payment donations were too high. I'm sorry i can't be more sure with my recollections but I have a feeling he might get about £100 for a full funeral but if its just graveside I would suggest maybe £50?

Did you know if your gran is on income support she could be eligible for help with funeral costs?

See here www.scotland.gov.uk/Publications/2006/04/12094440/9

"To claim, complete form SF200 "Funeral Payment from the Social Fund", available from your local Jobcentre Plus or social security office. You must claim within three months of the date of the funeral. For more information, see leaflet SB16 "A Guide to the Social Fund" which you can find on the DWP website www.dwp.gov.uk."

Sorry I can't remember enough to be more specific. If no-one else appears with a clearer answer, I've texted my mum to try and get a better one for your gran.
