hello

i've recently discovered angels and spirituality. its all very new to me and i've been attending an awareness class during which we meditate, focus on energies, auras, spiritual guides etc.

A lot of the other members have been there a lot longer than me and i would really like to do some research and to get a bit more "in the know" as such.

I was wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction? I've read a few of Doreen Virtues books, but found them very airy fairy and american (IYKWIM).

Many thanks xx

Have you read any Eckhardt Tolle? Though that is far more Buddhist based, and doesn't focus on spirit guides, angels, auras.

What are you wanting from the books? Are you wanting more information on what you already know? Or are you wanting to expand on what you know, and into perhaps territory that you haven't yet explored yet?

What else have you read, aside from Doreen Virtue?

I liked this one about Angels, its written by a PhD student and she just recounts the stories that people have told her, without being judgmental. Its really easy to read, and isn't too OTT:

I did find Doreen Virtue's "How to Hear Your Angels" really helpful, but if she's not for you fair enough . Soul and Spirit magazine is good. It covers all sorts of topics. There's a lot of information on the internet too. Diana Cooper has a website and you can get newsletters from her.

I found that having a good old rummage about on Amazon fantastic for finding out more things, discovering new authors and related topics. I think using Amazon is a must for anyone pursuing this kind of thing.

Some great books that aren't necessarily angel/aura related:

  • "The Way of the Wizard" by Deepak Chopra
  • "A New Earth" by Eckhardt Tolle
  • "A Return to Love" by Marianne Williamson
  • "What God Wants" by Neale Donald Walsch
  • "Ask and It Is Given" by Ester and Jerry Hicks
  • "Jonathan Livingston Seagull" by Richard Bach
  • "Many Lives, Many Masters" by Brian Weiss

And Spirit and Destiny magazine, for a bit if everything!

I agree that 'Spirit & Destiny' and 'Soul & Spirit' magazines are very good. They cover all many different kinds of spirituality and you can dip in and out, rejecting what doesn't resonate with you, but also giving you access to areas that you might want to explore further.

Even though Doreen Virtue is very 'American' and some of her stuff is very left-field, I have found "How to Hear Your Angels" surprisingly spot-on in places.

However, I have found that simply googling a few key words opens up whole new possibilities for researching different kinds of spirituality.
