Hi doing a Reading for myself and got this:
1 hermit
2 world
3 fool
4 temperance
5 moon
6 judgement
7 sun
8 hanged man
9 hierophant
10 strength

According to my interpretation I am at a 1)standstill just now and want to move on and 2)believe the world is my oyster, 3)may be pie in the sky and 4)should tread carefully. 5) the past plans have been thwarted. 6)and the future includes a change of fortune. 7)feel contented with my lot 8)but watch out for hiddenenemies.9) My hopes and fears are all bound up in my contentment ie familiarity breeds contempt.10) 7 lastly the strength card depicts power and energy to come.

Anyway have a different slant?

celtic crosses differ - can you give a little more explanation about the positions of the numbered cards?

This isn't going to answer your question - sorry! I got a tarot card reading once and it could easily have ruined my life - I haven't let it. Dangerous, evil stuff imo.

I feel so strongly about it that whenever I hear stuff about tarot I have to speak up.

Thanks for your comments. In answer to the first reply the Celtic cross was 10 cards like this

  1. 10
  1. 1. 5. 9
2. 8 4. 7.

Would be clearer if you used reversals as well as uprights, and also the minor arcana.

That would add more detail to your reading.

Hi again

Sorry, I'm not getting the layout. Is it something like this?

  1. Present moment
  2. Crossing card/Influence
  3. Higher Self
  4. Unconscious
  5. Near Past ,etc ....

If you can name the numbers in terms of their positions, that would be great.

zozzle - much depends on the card reader, and I'm sorry you had a seemingly traumatic experience. No wonder you don't want to have anything to do with them anymore.

According to my instruction booklet it's the major arcana and no 1 is situation now no 2 laid across no 1 which is at cross purposes no 3 is placed above no1 and it what can be no 4 depicts foundations no 5 is near past no6 is near future. This is the basis of the Celtic cross. Last 4 cards are placed to the right of this and signify 1 - attitude and relation to self to matter
2 - house, environment, influence 3 - signifies hopes and fears and 4 - represents what will come

Gees, I have almost stopped reading for myself because I am also an empathic medium and at present there is someone really trying to get my attention.

But I have only read for myself and one other person, who taught me how.

Generally, though, go with your gut in these things and take the reading how you first felt.

Here's another perspective:

1 hermit - you are, whether by choice or not, in a period of isolation, often associated with the need to look inward and detach from the world in order to get a clearer perspective on something that is going on inside you. It can also be a time devoted to education or study of some kind.

2 world - there is a completion of one phase and a moving on to the next, which is influencing number 1.

3 fool - an opportunity to jump into the unknown, against all better judgement. The Fool often refers to the questing spirit - a need to take a leap of faith, often while others (even you) thinks that this could be foolish. I would say that this is an invitation here, not a warning. It shows potential, rather than anything concrete as yet achieved.

4 temperance - this might be drawing your attention to a need for grounding and balance while you are questing; a need to keep a certain part of you in the real world. It sounds like there is an invitation to explore parts of yourself/life that you haven't yet met, but to temper it with a dose of reality so that you don't flip out into complete fantasy.

5 moon - something was possibly confusing and unclear to you in the recent past, or you picked up on something that you couldn't quite articulate to yourself, but which had a tangible impact on your life, and which informed your current situation.

6 judgement - at it's most simple, there will be a decision made in the near future - and you might not have as much say over the outcome as you would like.

7 sun - there is something in your life that is going well for you, but usually with the sun there is a caveat that you should work with it; use it. It's a gift, and it is up to you how much value you derive from it.

8 hanged man - something around you is unable to move or come to a decision for whatever reason. Things might be held up unavoidably. And often necessarily, because it gives time to see things from a different perspective.

9 hierophant - perhaps the wish for discernment and wisdom? And the ability to use it?

10 strength - the resilience and complexity added to a life where things have not always run smoothly, and where there has been an opportunity to integrate different parts of yourself that are then more easily able to work with each other. Strength is about embodying different elements of yourself - some light, some shadow - which enables you to work within a larger, more inclusive framework in your life.

I'm assuming that you only work with Major Arcana? If you only do so exclusively, sometimes incorporating Minor Arcana can be quite useful. The balance between the two different arcana can often show the emphasis of the reading; and you are also able to identify more easily those things which come to you in the form of other people, rather than just situations. You can also get a clearer idea of what areas of life the cards are drawing your attention to, whether emotions, material matters, things that require thought and mental acuity, or deal with matters spiritual.

Just a thought.

Thanks for your comments. My feelings are that I have the answer I have been looking forward and have to contend with issues this brings. It is a self fulfilling prophecy as a long time ago a fortune teller foresaw I would emigrate and that is what the leap of faith is. We are seriously considering options and I asked the cards for guidance. I am interested in using them to their full potential but am just learning. I am intrigued as to your post expat as to how you know someone is trying to contact you.
