Wesley Owen in administration

Really hoping that this does not spell the end for Christian bookshops on the High Street. I can only think of one that is not under the Wesley Owen umbrella.

Thoughts and prayers with the staff, too, obviously.

sad. heard it was coming...

doesn't surprise me - you can get most of their stock online at places like amazon nowadays ... still, a sad end to an era

The Cambridge shop is being taken over by CLC. Is that the only one you could think of, Smithagain?

I don't think it is sad at all. Limited stock, full of ghastly christian tat and appalling music, took weeks to get any academic books ordered. Even with student discount, Amazon or other online sellers were cheaper.

Never met a non-CHristian who ever walked into one.

Not everyone has access to the internet though, and its a Christian presence removed from the high street. I think its very sad. And tough for the staff too. A friend worked for them on an ad-hoc basis - she said she always loved the way they started with a prayer, and a reminder that they weren't selling just a book, but the message of Christian hope!

I think that's sad - it's the only Christian book shop we have left here. Having said that, I only buy children's books there but I love their cards!
