Sponsor for Confirmation.

So, DS1 needs a sponsor for his Confirmation.

Sponsors must be able to recieve communion.

Every one I could have asked (ie Godparents) arent' able to recieve communion, due to divorce, etc.

I'm stuck as to what to do, short of grabbing a virtual stranger in church.

Any ideas?

When DC were confirmed the church provided the sponsors, we weren't actually asked if we wanted anyone else.

how strict is your church if a divorcee can't receive communion?!

is there someone in the church (stewrad, sunday school leader etc) you could ask?

or there's nothing saying it can't be a relative - aunts? uncles? gps?

It can be anyone over 16 who can take communion, (apart form parents).

I don't usually talk to anyone at church so don't feel I could randomly ask them.

I'll see what the priest sugests.

My sponsor was the person who run the confirmation class. I didn't choose him.

I think liturgically, it is the person who presents candidates to the bishop.

I asked ds's teacher - he was very pleased and proud that wed asked him.

I too was deliberately searched out to be a sponsor for a particular wild little boy and his own grandma said to me before the service if he tries to get away 'hold on tight!!'

I think one of the older ladies in church would be thrilled to be asked.

I think I will ask DS's teacher. She is co ordinationg the whole thing, so will be there anyway, I presume.

LOL at the wild boy - I can imagine DS1 doing a runner.
