Christenings - is there an age limit for Godparents?

We are trying to make a difficult decision regarding Godparents for DS. My nephew actually looks like a great option in many respects but is only 14. Does anyone know if the church has a limit on age for Godparents.

Anyone any experience of this?

My cousin was a godparent to my sister age 11

Don't think so. I was at a christening with a church service a couple of months ago. The godparents of the child were her 2 brothers, they were probably around 14ish certainly not older.

Thats interesting to know - thanks for replies. I am checking with the church and hoping they don't have a problem with it.

Bit of a guess here but he is old enough to be confirmed and if he is there really shouldn't be a problem, if not then I don't know but I expect it depends on the vicar
