I am planning to get a birthstone ring for my husband. He's a capricorn and i thought his birthstone is turquoise but i read some where that it's different in western astrology and vedic .

Im bit confused now. Also is there some rule as to how these things should be worn.I mean I read again (sorry i read a lot!) that the stone should touch your skin???

Capricorn means he is either born in end of December or start of January. www.abiza.co.uk/birthstones/ this guide says December stone is Turquoise, Tanzanite or Blue Topaz whereas January stone is Garnet. So the birthstones are decided with the birth month but with astrological signs, they always cover the end or start of a month and then end of start another month. Hope this helps.
