Hello everyone x

I was just wondering if anyone could help me with this question.

My daughter will be 18 in August and my son will be 20 in September. (they are from my previous marriage)

I am 7 weeks pregnant, due the end of December. I would like my Son and Daughter to be this child's godparents, I have search on the web but cant find out if this would be allowed.

Can anyone answer this for me, I know its really early to be thinking about it, but once something is in my head, it will drive me nuts until I find out lol.

Thank you

Wend xxx

I'm not religious any more (and it might depend on denomination/individual priest/vicar/minister anyway), but AFAIK the only requirement for godparents is that they are baptised/christened themselves and are willing to commit (a very serious committment, btw, not just a social nicety) to helping raise your child in the denominationally-appropriate religious manner.

My own godmother owned a viscious, child-hating Peke, forgot my birthdays and fucked off to Australia when I was seven, so I'm probably the wrong person to be answering you. That might also be why I'm an atheist these days...

OK, here's a post I borrowed for you from another forum:

'My second eldest sister is my Godmother, and a great Godmother she is. She made her confirmation the year I was born. It started a tradition with the two of us. I'm her son's Godmother and she is my daughter's Godmother, which makes her also my daughter's great Godmother in a way!'

So there you go! It sounds as though it should be ok, but you could check with your vicar/priest/minister just to make sure.

Ohh Thank you xx

OldLadyKnowsNothing ... I understand where you are coming from, I don't remember my godparents at all, one reason I think I am very careful who I pick for my children, I know for a fact my daughter will be an absolute dream, she is already planning when she can look after it, and just rings up to ask how bump is doing Awww, think I may need to make an appointment just to see it with they way she is lol.

Iseult40 ... Thank you so much, I will indeed ask when the time is nearer, its just it so early yet, it was just something that popped into my head and I wouldn't rest until I had an idea it would be ok, so thank you xxx
