Genuine question for Jehovah's Witness MNetters

Hi there,

I am planning a food topic for a class with several children who are Jehovah's Witnesses. I wanted to do a lesson where we compare special occasion (party) food with everyday food.

What special occasions do you celebrate that involve party food please? I want to do things right, without offending or alienating anyone.

Thanks

You could always do food from around the world, pizza, ice cream (italy) chips, marshmallows (america) sandwuches, crisps (uk)

I am not a jehovah's witness but what about Weddings and wedding anniversaries

interregnum · 06/04/2009 20:20

Not a JW, but know a lot about it. They don't
celebrate anything unique to them,so you are
left with weddings and wedding anniversaries.

IheartEASTEREGGS · 06/04/2009 20:25

do they not celebrate birthdays?

everGreensleeves · 06/04/2009 20:29

do they celebrate?

interregnum · 06/04/2009 20:41

Birthdays no no

Although their theology is Dagenham, all the Winesses I have met seem jolly nice people
who are up for a laugh even at themselves.

Well, they do have the annual memorial, which is on Thursday this week, and they do invite guests to that, so it's entirely conceivable that they would have those guests round for dinner during the evening.

And there's always the conventions, so maybe packed lunches!

they have no specific celebrations apart from the Annual Memorial..and weddings/anniversaries..they just party for the fun of it..no special occassions...but they eat any kind of the usual 'party food'..dodgy pineapple and cheese on sticks, sausage rolls, jelly & ice-cream... etc
