Just had to tell you this

Dd1 (age 7) told me today that a boy in her class found a caterpillar in the playground recently and he picked it up and threw it down and stomped on it.

Dd1 told him that God created nature and that he would be angry with the boy for hurting it.

Dd1 said "Mommy i made a bed out of leaves and sticks and put the caterpillar on it so that it could rise again""But the boy came along and stood on it again"

The tragedies of childhood - and being a caterpillar for that matter. Very sweet. Tell her the caterpillar will be a butterfly in it's next life.

She is a lovely girl with an old head on her shoulders.It made my heart leap for joy when she told me what she had done

ds got into trouble off a teacher last year because he thought ds was trying to squash a worm, ds said he was building it a shelter out of grass and sticks so it wouldn't get burnt by the sun. Knowing ds, I believe him. He's the sort of kid that moves snails off the path so people don't squish them.
