Oh well done you!

DH is just over 2 years now, and this is my 2nd pregnancy. He admitted he had a problem just after DS was born, I think (it is all a bit hazy) when DS was 6 weeks. It was a really difficult time, obviously, but we made it!

I don't go to al-anon, but had loads of great support from mumsnet, under a different name. I also spent a lot of time chatting to some of the people DH met at AA, for which I am very grateful. DH is like a different person now, and is still working through the steps with his sponsor.

How many weeks are you?

Leannabanana · 08/03/2009 17:45

i think about five or six....very new still. feeling fab tho so far, long may it last...

how lovely for you to have you DH 'back'...or a new improved version anyway. really pleased to hear that.

how far along are you?

No, not as yet. Do you go to many meetings? DH works full-time and runs a business so struggles to get to more than one meeting a week. He is pretty good though, and goes to a meeting when we go on holidays to Cornwall.

Leannabanana · 08/03/2009 18:31

i attend my home group twice a week [sun/thurs] see sponsees on a monday and try to make another meeting if possible. two is my minimum....i also speak to my sponsor minimum once a week but she is such an important part of my life now that its usually more frequent than that...

My DH is in recovery aswell, he has ten years now... its a lovely way of life i've found. luck to have come in relatively early....i was 26 when i came in...

how have you found your pregnancy?

10 years, that is marvellous! Well done to you both. Did you meet at a meeting?

DH and I are both in our early 30s, and he does enjoy his meetings. His speaks and texts his sponsor frequently, and meets up with people he has met. We've been to a couple of things together, and we both mean for me to go to an open meeting but it is difficult with a toddler.

This pregnancy has been a lot easier than my first, probably because DH isn't drinking. He was very emotional in our first pregnancy, and I had to be the one who coped with everything. He was very unpredictable, but at the time I had no idea (honestly!) how bad things were. So this pregnancy has been a lot easier, emotionally, although his parents have been pretty worried that he'd drink again. I don't think he will though.

It is a great way of life, and I don't drink either to give him support. He isn't bothered if I do, but I feel it is the least I can do. So I haven't had a drink since I got pregnant with DS, so just under 3 years. I don't miss it at all.

I don't know Bill W myself, but he (and his friends) saved my Dad's life when I was little - for that I'm very grateful. Hope Bill W and friends continue to help.
