I had an out of body experience a couple of nights ago and it has slightly freaked me out

With the danger of making myself look like a complete loon to some, I am starting this thread. What I experienced was very real and it has left me feeling very emotional.

Has anyone else experienced an out of body experience or believe it is possible. I could really do with talking to someone about what I experienced.

I'm sure I watched a programe before and they proved it to be an 'illusion' or just something weird that happens in the brain and can be easily recreated scientifically.

I am convinced though that I did leave my body, I also saw a dark figure while I was out of my body, I know it was my Nana. The next morning I had two incidents happen in my house that made me feel she was trying to let me know she was there. The first was a tap came on full blast in the bathroom, about 10 mins after that happened I went upstairs to find that my baby's monitor lid, which has a light on it had been closed, I never close it, there's no way anything could have accidentally made it close and no-one else had been in the room.

I'll set the scene first, my df was away on business so my mum was staying to help look after my toddler and baby. We had quite an emotional talk about my mums health before we went to bed. My mum has had a few things happen recently her lung collapsed after a GA, she had a tumour removed and she had a car crash which she was lucky to get out of.

During the night I was up twice with my babies, both times I went downstairs, my mum was sleeping downstairs in the lounge.

I found myself stood at the bottom of the stairs a third time, I could see my mum was asleep and had one of those moments when you think what am I doing in this room. I couldn't remember, so I decided as everyone was asleep I would go back up to bed. With that I started to lift off of the floor, just slowly until i was floating by the beams on the ceiling. I thought to myself how amazing this was and how come I'd never been able to do this before when it was so easy to do. I could see everything in the room as clearly as I can now. I then started to float up the stairs as if something was pulling me upwards, I just let myself drift up the stairs watching the handrail as I went up. I then felt someone had cradled me in their arms and was lifting me as well, I looked down the stairs and saw a dark figure. I know this figure was my Nana, she lifted me to the top of the stairs, I floated in my room and I pushed the door just to as I always do so I can hear my dd if she woke. I then floated across our room until I was above my side of the bed. I then dropped down. My eyes were open as I lay there thinking how wonderful floating had been and decided I would try and do it again. I then became very aware of the duvet being heavy on me. I thought I never pulled that over me when I lowered down from the ceiling. It then dawned on me that my body hadn't been out of the bed.

justaboutindisguise my Nana passed away a few years ago, my Mum was extremely close to her, I too had an amazing relationship with her, she was one of my best friends and I daily miss her and think of her. In the morning when I told my Mum what I had experienced, she told me before she went to sleep she had seen a dark figure walk across the doorway of the lounge.

Thankyou so much for your response, yes the experience was positive and loving and very reassuring, but I really don't want it to happen again and it worried me going to sleep last night.

I do believe in God, I have also attended Spiritualist churches in the past. Shall we say I am open minded. I have had various experiences before but never seen anything. My Mums advice to me was was as you said, to tell her thankyou so much for letting us know she is around us but we don't want anymore things to happen. We both did this and felt an amazing sense of closeness with my Nana in that moment.

Another strange thing that I have been experiencing alot recently is the feeling that someone is touching the back of my head, this feeling can last ages at a time. Does anyone have any views on what that could be? I would like to think that is my Nana too.
