can i have ur advice

Hello All

I have dilema i need help with

I joined my church (presbiterian) last aug when i got my kids christened I took the vows and i belive in them

I know there is a whole thing surrounding spiritulits (if you r a joined memebr of church and u belive then u shouldnt get involved ) and the passed away should be left in peace .

But for a long time now I have been wondering what its all about what hapens and how it all works tonight our nursery is holding a clairvoynt night to raise funds I am supposed to be going with friends 9I dont get out very often with out kids)

Am i comiting a sin going against what i belive in

can someone help

i am curious to know what its all about as i dont belive in it at all .

Deuteronomy has good guidance on this point at Deut 18:10-12

10 There should not be found in you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, anyone who employs divination, a practicer of magic or anyone who looks for omens or a sorcerer, 11 or one who binds others with a spell or anyone who consults a spirit medium or a professional foreteller of events or anyone who inquires of the dead. 12 For everybody doing these things is something detestable to God, and on account of these detestable things God is driving them away from before you.

Leviticus directly says to not partake in these activities:

19:31 'Do not turn to mediums or seek out spiritists, for you will be defiled by them. I am the LORD your God'

I think from this verse that yes, it is a sin to partake in the occult.

I think it is dangerous to lay yourself open to the spirits that are not from God - there are some things that we as humans should not get involved in and I truly believe one of them is trying to contact the dead.

Why would you want to? Surely if they [the dead people] are in heaven having a whale of a time serving God, they haven't got time to speak to us anyway? which means that those that do come through are perhaps not in heaven - and who isn't in heaven? .... the devil... so one can assume that the spirits that come through a ouija board or a person as a channel are only evil and therefore dangerous.

Just my thoughts ... you may not agree but I wouldn't go, personally though

well after all my curiousness i did not manage to go my little ds took a high temp convultion and had to be taken to hospital at around the time i was supposed to be going tonight he is fine now but I think it was a sign not to go and i need to start listening to the inner me

I of course would not have prayed to anyone other than my god
