WWYD - Have dc's who don't go to religious school and want to go for our ashes tomorrow. Do I take them to 9.30 am mass and ashes and drop off at school asap afterwards OR do I leave visiting friends in house alone tomorrow night and take them and us to 7pm busier i.e longer mass?

DH says the latter! (Rude I think but not impossible...)

Would LOVE it if the school did it but, hey ho..have to do it myself....which I am happy to do. Do I annoy school by being late or annoy pals by disappearing....

I would do whichever option is the less hassle for you! I doubt whether the school will mind too much if you explain it to them.

It is less hassle and means an early bath/bed whilst pals here....

I would take them to the morning mass and just explain. This way they can wear their ashes all day and be proud of what they represent.

Agree with Mapleleaf. But you ought to talk to the teacher this afternoon at pickup, or give her a note, to explain. My dc are the only Jews in the school, there is never any problem with me taking them out for religious festivals, and everyone is always very interested in what they have been doing adn in seeing anything that they have brought back.

Relgious experience is also part of learning, and a good reason for authorised absence.

Thanks all for posts. Will take them early and let them wear with pride their ashes..that's if they keep them on!
