Hi. I am a member of my church council. we have to serve for 3 years but after 1 i am finding it increasingly difficult to have time to attend meeting etc. i work full time with 3 small children and my evenings are precious.

How do i write a letter of resignation. I keep starting but it all looks silly. Help.

Dear
I am writing with deep regret to tender my resignation as a member of ..... Church Council. My family commitments are such that I am finding it increasingly difficult to give full and proper attention to my Church Council work.

I offer my sincere apologies for standing down with two years left to serve, however i feel I would not be doing you or my family justice by remaining as a member.

However I would like to take this opportunity to thank all members of the Council for what has been a fun and interesting year........

I think it's a perfectly good letter.

Now you just need to find a stamp.
