I'm only on my first suit (cups) but have noticed the Ace and the Page have very similar meanings? Is this usual or am I misinterpreting them?

how are you learning? i have some, but am reluictant for some reason to try them out...have done a couple of readings though and was v accurate...

It really helps if you go with your own feelings towards the cards as well (often backed up by the actual meaning)

Tarot is very much about symbolism so have a good look at each card, colours objects etc.

Fun way to learn is to pick one random card each day or so. Read about it, meditate on it if you are so inclined so you get "your meaning" if you get my meaning.

Read meanings from different sources to really fix it in your mind.

You will find the random card you pick will have some meaning concerning the day.

Good luck!

Me again! Something else that really helps when you are starting out. Instead of learning one suit at a time, start with all four aces. Then look at the twos, threes etc. Same numbers share a lot in common.

Then move on to the people cards, all the pages Kings and Queens.

They all have their own energy and lend a lot of strength to a reading. It helps to get you in the mind set of tying the reading together.

I thought I'd try what mademekoto suggested and start with aces first and so on... But my ace of swords was missing! They given me an extra king of wands.
Dp bought them for me so he took them back yesterday and he bought a second set for himself as he's learning too.
It makes it easier when both of you are learning.
We gave each other readings last night and they were really good.

An extra king of Wands, maybe its a sign!

Its really helps if you read a bit of numerology alongside your Tarot meanings as it really adds colour to the readings.

Treat it like a project, have a week with your aces (when you get them all!) Look at the energy aces bring. Read the meaning for each card. Try carrying them with you.

ThePgHedgeWitchIsCrankyBeware is right, the more they attune to you the more you attune to them.

There are some good books by Janina Renee on the subject.
