Not sure if this belongs here, but vivid dreams and what to make of them?

I had a strange and realistic dream last night, and am wondering how to interpret it, if anyone has any ideas.

It was mainly about a friend of mine and her family.

The story was that she had had a routine operation and was now in a baby-like state, very much altered by the operation, it wasn't clear whether this was temporary and she would recover, or a permanent thing

It was horrible, her husband and parents were in the room and either crying or being strong. It was in my room I think, she was lying on my childhood bed.

I wanted to help but didn't know how. Also there were hundreds of small children in an adjoining room, who didn't understand as they were foreign and kept wandering into the room where my friend was.

The next bit didn't involve her - I was in a shop with my big sister, and some of her friends. Something to do with lampshades.

I am feeling a bit dusturbed by it and don't understand what it was all about.

How do you feel about this friend normally? Might you be subconsciously feeling that she is not coping, and you want to help but don't know how? Were her husband and parents actually being any help in the dream, or did you feel they weren't able to help her and were more concerned with their own feelings?

The hundreds of foreign children who couldn't understand is probably just a multiplication of her own children and how they wouldn't understand the situation, I think. And maybe part of the whole feeling of being overcome by the situation.

I'd guess the lampshade is probably a different story altogether....
