House cleansing - tips?

Anyone done house cleansing to remove bad influences and to protect against - would be grateful for tips.

I just did this for my sister yesterday, If you can get a 'smudge stick', dried herbs bound, or if not incence is fine and salt.
simply walk around your house with the smugde or incense smouldering go to each corner of the room, you can say something if you like but the main thing is your intent to dispel negativity. when you have walked every room take the salt and sprinkle a little on each window sill outside and along each door threshold.

Light a white candle as a gratefull thankyou for the cleansing.
