Having invited all my RL friends to church, thought I'd mention this.

You might really like it!!

We've been doing loads of invites. I hope it's a great day - it coincides with our first influx of students for the academic year and the usual parades for Harvest. I'm sure everything will be totally chaotic.

tassisssss · 27/09/2008 14:46

Same here re students SP, though I think harvest is next Sunday.

Hope it goes well for you.

We have Harvest tomorrow - last Sunday in September.

SqueakyPop · 27/09/2008 15:05

Just put 'harvest sunday 2008' into Google and found a wide range of dates. I am totally surprised. In our church, we always have it as the last Sunday in September.

I kmow it is related to the Harvest Moon (Moon after the autumnal equinox).

Inspired idea tassissss!

Have invited 2 families who can't make it tomorrow but i think will come in near future. If it wasn't for all the hype around tomorrow i may not have ever invited them!

Back to Church is a national initiative

LadyOfWaffle · 27/09/2008 16:57

Is it? I may brave going back, my depression has eased so will take advantage of being able to get out of the house

tassisssss · 27/09/2008 18:58

LofW, glad you're feeling better. Good week to go back!

ja9, I'm the same, it's made me invite loads of friends. not sure any are coming, but maybe it's "planted a seed". even as an exercise in sharing our faith it's valuable.

Im going because dd has been picked to lead the singing at harvest festival by her teacher [have they head dd sing?!]

nolongeraworriedmummy · 27/09/2008 19:06

heard not head!

tassisssss · 27/09/2008 19:38

ha, it's a ploy we use here - get the kids involved and the parents might come!!

OP posts:
nolongeraworriedmummy · 27/09/2008 19:40

tassisss I thought it might be as dd seemed to think lots of children had that been picked to sing lead letters

I was actually going to take her anyway, we used to go regulary, just got out of the habit.

tassisssss · 27/09/2008 20:31

habit breaking is exactly what i think tomororw's good for!

Hope it's a positive experiece for you nolonger!

thanks tassis, Im a bit nervous actually as the last church I went in was negative towards me because me and my husband are seperated

MaryBS · 27/09/2008 20:51

nolonger, not only am I divorced/remarried, our vicar is too! Hoping that you find it better tomorrow.

NorthernLurker · 27/09/2008 20:58

nolonger - I'm sorry you had such a bad experience last time. Believe me that says far more about that church than it does about you. Praying you enjoy tomorrow and can find peace there

KatyMac · 27/09/2008 21:01

DD is being collected to d a play at a church we don't go to at 10

I am delivering food to village hal for Harvest lunch at 10:30

at 11 is the Harvest service

Soon after 11 DD will be delivered to Harvest service (hopefully)

Then off to Harvest lunch at 12:30

& all I want to do is stay in bed with my cold

tassisssss · 27/09/2008 22:05

Katy, sorry you're feeling grim.

nolonger - I hope you have a better experience tomorrow.

I stopped going to church about 2 years ago I don?t feel ready to go again, I wont go into it here but I didn?t enjoy being with all the hypocrites that have taken over my local church!

KatyMac · 28/09/2008 18:15

Came home sick & went to bed

Did lots of people go?

SqueakyPop · 28/09/2008 18:17

Our church was heaving, but it was so noisy that I suspect it would have put people off.

our place was pretty packed which was lovely and lots more were invited who couldn't come but might come some other time

for me it was just a good opportunity to invite folks and everyone was very positive about being invited.

Sorry you weren't well Katy.

MrsW, that's sad. Could you try another fellowship? Give them another opportunity?
