DH met someone recently who gave him a book called 'the cynic and the soul'. She was asking DH about me and she said, 'your wife is a gatekeeper.' but DH did not really press for any details!!

Apparently I will have something to do with births and deaths. Births, yes, i do that.. but deaths..?

don't want to google and come up with millions of things to plough through, so am hoping someone out there knows about gatekeepers.

Makes a change from my haunted house, doesn't it??

thank you for any light you can shed on this

x

Well I know of spirit gatekeepers but I don't that is what she is referring to.

In the past, the women who acted as midwives also laid out the dead. And I am not just talking about way, way back when midwives could be condemned as witches.

My mum remembers the local woman who would "fetch 'em and stretch 'em" in the 1950/60's. Most communities had someone similar.

If she knew that you are a doula before she made her comment, then it could be simply that she relates birth & death in that way.

Or it could be that she senses that you have a gift for connecting with spirit.

I think that people who have that gift are often drawn to professions that deal with both the beginning and the end.

In another sense I think of my mum as a gatekeeper.

She runs meditation and spiritual awareness classes and acts as a guide.

When running a meditation class, she will be the one who doesn't meditate but instead will watch over everyone else.

The gatekeepers on spirit side are sort of like guardian angels.

For example, a medium will ask their gatekeeper to protect them and watch over them whilst they are communicating with spirit.

And in witchcraft you can have lots of gatekeepers, helping you to interact with the elements.

Am I confusing you yet?

Lots of interpretations even without googling
