What do you understand by the word 'judgemental'?

IMO to be judgmental is to make judgements (i.e. he is wrong, she is right) whether or not you know the full story.

But that's beside the point I think - all of us are judgemental sometimes, it's impossible not to be.

I'd stick to my guns in your situation: sometimes being judgemental is necessary.

I think judgemental (as in "don't be so judgemental") means that no-one is really in a position to judge others, almost in the sense of "what right do we have?"
Of course everyone judges other people all the time its natural and normal but maybe its not so good to "act out" this judging because (a) others may not agree or (b) it makes other people question what they would rather not think about.
I think these things are more problematic in a family situation as to judge someone else harshly may seem inappropriate to other members of the family.

Judgemental has become a negative word because of its implications of "judge not, lest ye be judged".

But of course we all make judgements - using your judgement is an essential part of making sense of the world. We're all judgemental about yobbos spitting in the street, or parents murdering their babies, or obviously bad things like that.

I think you've got every right to to dislike this person if you want to and to be as judgemental as you like! With my judges wig on (quick disclaimer: I am not a judge - that was figurative) I'd say s/he sounds like a bad lot!
