jewish mumsnetters - help with sporting yalmulke!

My cousin (Orthodox Jew) last week had his Bar Mitzvah which unfortunately we couldn't attend (it was in Beverly Hills and with 2 under the age of 2...)

Anyway, my cousin has a sporting collection of yalmulkes - I wanted to find a cricket one!

Any ideas would be welcome!

Hi, Sorry, I'm muslim not jewish but have been searching on the web for you ++ and can find nothing! It is really weird - have found loads of lovely ones for almost every other sport but no cricket.

i think there is a gap in the market!

I lived in Israel for most of my life,(30 years) altho not amongst the religious ones that wore 'kippot' as they are called. (I am not religious or Jewish either but have many friends who are)

I know that the younger more modern guys wear them in all sorts of colours, usually there are women that crochet or knit these types of little kippot. You can buy them in markets and such.
The thing I would like to point out, and that may be the reason you cannot find the gimmiky thing you are looking for, is that it is a religious type of head covering, so that there is something between God and the head. They may be brightly coloured and quite intricate, but they are not 'gimmiky'. Its not like a baseball cap or something where you can depict your favourite football team or a rock star all over it. When wearing a kippa, the young guy would then don a 'hat/cap' on top of his kippa.
They are not accessory garmets that one would wear in order to advertise something. This is probably the reason why you can't find such a kippa.
Maybe in the States they have gone one liberal step up and they are crocheting football teams and wotnot on them, but I would be surprised, very surprised. The kippa is a holy thing and depicting a commercial thing on them would just be 'unholy' I hope this helps.
