Card and small gift ideas for adult converting to Catholicism

An adult, relative who lives long haul abroad is converting to Catholicism and has a ceremony coming up. I'd like to send a card and small gift, but unsure what would be suitable. Is is a Baptism card I should look for?

What about a crucifix to hang up or a holding cross? Those are nice. Or a hard bound Sunday Missal?

Some rosary beads or a Catholic Bible perhaps?

Rosary beads
or, crucifix of missal

Thanks for the ideas- any others?

Sorry but what is a crucifix of missal?

I’d go for a generic holy card tbh and a charity gift for something like Christian aid or Mary’s meals. It’s what Jesus would want imo over tangible gifts for someone professing their faith.

Missal is a prayer book that has the readings in

I think that a donation in their name is a wonderful idea, actually

Thanks everyone.

Would I be looking for a communion, baptism, confirmation or other type of card?

Confirmation. If he was baptised in any Christian church he won’t be baptised again. And afaik first holy communion is a big deal for children. Less so for adults. I got a missal from the church when confirmed, I think my DC and DH too, so I’d give that a swerve.
Do you have a favourite spiritual book, that would be lovely.

No I don't and even if I did, it would be irrelevant. I'm not Catholic, hence asking for ideas for someone that is converting! They were in a different faith as a child but not Christian and never baptised previously.

They will be need to be baptised then OP.

I got a famed picture of my favourite cathedral when I was revived and some books. Just a normal gift will do. And a confirmation card as she will be confirmed.

Sorry, “of” should have been “or”.

you could try

Catholicgiftshop.co.uk

You might find bibles and rosary beads are classic presents from godparents

Personally I’d go for a bottle of Holy Water and a hanging font for the house.

BobbieTables · 15/04/2026 21:22

I'd get them a St Christopher
