Greenbelt festival with a 5 yr old

Hello! I’m thinking of going to Greenbelt festival but don’t know anyone who has been…. What is it like? And for kids?

I’d be on my own with my (sensitive and energetic) 5 year old who loves music but will also want to do activities / just play with other kids :)

I’m not a Christian but I would say spiritual (which is quite an important part of my life)… will I feel out of place?

it will be quite a big deal for us to go - I’m juggling a few health issues - but I feel like it could be quite inspiring/uplifting… I like the theme of hope.

I’ve posted in here as it seems sporadically like Greenbelt posts pop up here!

Thanks…

Hi I'm a Greenbelt regular, though it's been a while since I've had small children in tow. It's a great place to take young kids, welcoming and safe. Loads of fun things to do.

You won't feel out of place at all.

My tips are
-if you are camping prepare for it to be cold in the evenings and at night. Take blankets, lots of warm clothes, woolly hats etc

  • Think about how you will get you, your son and your stuff to your camping pitch as it all has to be carried from the parking field. Lots of families use wheeled trollies that can then double up as transport around the festival for small children.

-Otherwise prepare to really get your steps in
-don't overschedule yourselves and take some time each day to just chill and watch the world go by. Festivals are fun but tiring, so you both might want to take an afternoon nap.

Ah thank you!

It’s great to hear it’s so kid-friendly and that we won’t be out of place.

I’ve done a fair few festivals when younger, but it would take some extra effort going to this with my DC so I’m being a bit more cautious!!
