Any non-religious/humanist chaplains here?

Hi! I'm thinking of training to become a humanist chaplain, or a "non-religious pastoral carer" as Humanists UK call them. I'm keen to hear the experiences of others who may have gone down this path. I'm not sure what I'm asking exactly. I've had volunteer roles before involving listening and advising, but not in any spiritual capacity. I've always felt a calling to help provide some sort of spiritual guidance or comfort, even as someone who isn't religious, but am very aware that the reality of the role may not suit everyone.

Just interested in experiences really!

Charity Humanists UK runs training for its network of non-religious pastoral caters, and has humanist chaplains in a number of prisons and hospitals. https://humanists.uk/community/humanist-pastoral-support/

Thank you - Yes, this is who I'd do the training with.

Was interested to hear real-life experience of those who've done the role.

I've done and deliver the training for Humanists UK. I'm a non religious pastoral caregiver. I'd be more than happy to have a chat with you and talk through experiences 😊
