Milliways posted this prayer request:

"A good friend of mine has been battling cancer for years. Three times he has been struck, and three times he has bounced back. The first two times was treated with Chemo (the second very aggressively) and the last time he had a whole bone replaced with a rod.

Yesterday we heard he now has cancer affecting both lungs and a bone. Chemo starts again on Monday.

This young man is married and fosters children (on repite care). He is a church leader and an absolute inspiration, never giving up and always remaining postive and full of faith.

I know that God loves him, but I really would ask anyone who can to spare a prayer for this man and his wife, that they have strength to bear whatever is coming, and that if, at all possible, he will be healed.

Thank you "

MaryBS · 15/05/2008 20:36

Paperchain, the offer is there if you need it. Sometimes just sticking it in an email to someone can bring some relief. I know it does for me. Keep dropping in, and let us know how you are please.

Adrian Plass also helps. I've got a book called "The Unlocking - God's escape plan for frightened people", and "When You Walk - Company and encouragement for ordinary followers of Jesus who sometimes find the going a bit tough". I'd offer to lend them to people, but I need them myself! If I'm not using them for me, I quote sections from them to people.

Mosschops, is your friend in the forces or the support services. My brother spent 7 months last year in Basra, as a counsellor for the Red Cross. I know how worried I was about him.

CD - my stews take a little longer. Probably overnight. Will take to church in the morning, see how it sounds from the poopit! Glad P is on the mend, but for you. And Praise God for whoever generously sent you that money!

paperchain · 15/05/2008 20:40

Thansk Mary how very kind of you. I am goiong to go to bed and hope that tomorrow never comes. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Swaliswan · 15/05/2008 21:09

Hi Ladies,

Popping by very quickly. Sorry that I haven't posted much.

mosschops I know that it isn't the same, but my DH spent 7 months in Iraq (he came back almost a year ago to the day). I'm here if you want to talk.

My childminder text me today to tell me that her DD has chicken pox. Please will you pray that we deal well with it well when DD no doubt comes down with it?

DutchOma · 15/05/2008 21:56

Lovely to see you SS. Hope that the poxes pass quickly should dd get them.
Mosschops praying for your friend in Afghanistan. We have three people there, not allowed to say where or what they're doing, but so far they seem to be alright.
Millie praying for your friend that his cancer may be healed, but more that he will have peace whatever the future holds for him.
PC, of course you should drop in, we have missed you and are glad to have you back.
Let us know what's happening and whether any of us can be of help to you.

MaryBS · 15/05/2008 22:23

PC - there have been times when I've felt like that too, but where there's life there is hope, there has to be. Is there NOTHING in your life that lifts your spirit, nothing at all?

CaptainDippy · 15/05/2008 23:14

Popping in to say goodnight > xxxxxxx Love and Prayer to all those struggling on this thread. Send light in the darkness Lord.

Aw podmog, must have been awful, flashbacks are xtremely upsetting! prayers for a more restful night!

podglet · 16/05/2008 10:38

Morning all, have copied and pasted from the other thread.

So, we got through last night. He came home and asked how I had been all day. So I told him what a rotten day we had had, dreading him coming home, very teary etc. Then I told him exactly who I had spoken to / left a message for. He was so chocked, it really hit home what he had done.

So, long story, lots of talking later, rightly or wrongly, he is staying here. I have told him that he needs to sort himself out, get help with the anger / drinking etc and he has agreed. I think I dealt him a real shot across the bows by what i did during the day. I have said that even one step toward any form of abuse would see me and the children leaving.

I have packed an "emergency" bag which I hope to God I never need and today will be taking some money from my savings for an emergency.

I know I am probably quite mad for agreeing to this so please don't shoot me down or judge me.

FAQ - hope you found a babysitter and you hada splendid time

Podmog - sounds scary - praying for you.

Mosschops and PC - praying for you too.

Off to a meet up with some local mn'ers later - should be fun

DutchOma · 16/05/2008 10:50

I received this e.mail from Andrea and Benoit in Japan. They are due to come home soon, to deal with their little daughter's educational issues and this baptismal service means an awful lot to them. Please pray for these two people, that God will heal them and that they will be baptised on sunday and then stay strong in their faith. It's a big deal in Japan.

  1. Yesterday I received an e-mail from Asako, the young Japanese woman scheduled for Baptism, informing that she has been struggling with a cold the whole week. On top of that, yesterday she got conjunctivitis. So far nothing has been postponed yet. Please pray for full healing and restoration and that Asako will be strong and ready for Baptism on Sunday.
  1. The other person scheduled for baptism, an Australian man, has also been struggling with a severe cold (for over two weeks). Please pray for healing for Reagan.
CaptainDippy · 16/05/2008 10:51
