can I have a God parent removed from the baptism certificate?

One of DS's godparents is no longer in our family, messy horrid problem, I just don't want to have to ever explain to DSs that he even was around.

Probably possible if there is good reason to do so, speak to the priest who did the baptism and explain.

No
I think you will find that it's entered on the Register at the church (which your ds will be most unlikely to see) and is therefore an official record of the event in the church's archives
In the C of E Baptism Registers have the same sort of status as Registers of Births, Marriages and Deaths
I really sympathise with the godparent issue, we have severed ties with one of ds's as well, but he is quite content with the explanation that our friendship ended
Why not focus more on the other godparents?

I don't think it's possible to remove someones name as a godparent. I tried to be removed once and was told it could not be done.

jingleyjen · 30/04/2008 13:23

we are going to focus on other god parents, the godparent was married to my sister and it turns out he is a very very unpleasant man, in the future I just don't want to have to explain that he used to be married to aunty Jingley but isn't any more...
Thnkas for your replies, I will talk to the vicar and see if there is anything we can do.
