Question for modern spiritualists.

I've posted today about loosing my catholic faith. But I've been reading about Modern Spirituality. I think it resonates a bit. I like the idea that the spirit lives on.

However. I'm from a scientific background ground. I wonder why when a human is anaesthetised does the spirit not stay conscious. Or maybe a better question is that if the body is alive, does that mean the soul has a conscious and unconscious state?

Heads a bit all over the place here.

OP Be very careful whose advice you take on spirituality. There are many unscrupulous people who will take advantage of you. Especially if money is involved.

When you think about the first law of thermodynamics and how it applies in both cosmology and quantum mechanics, I can't help but wonder about how it explains so much 'spirituality' and general folklore. I'm sure the answers are out there. But whether humans will ever be able to fully understand in our time based animal form I don't know.

Perhaps we have to come OUT of our time based animal form to find out!

Well if you're not dead your spirit is still tethered to your physical being, regardless how conscious you are!
Read about the Gnosticism and the Cathar faith they held a fascinating belief system, which the Pope didn't take very kindly too, so executed most of them as heretics!

What particular aspect of “modern spirituality” resonates with you? It is usually an amalgamation of various belief systems, it might help you understand points by tracking down the origins of what resonates with you (and what doesn’t).

Re you question about spirit not being conscious through GA - you need to clarify what you mean by conscious- here I think you’re talking about a very physical loss of consciousness, the fact you cabt experience the world through the 5 senses or remember. All these things are mechanisms of the physical body and your spirit won’t experience the world in the same way. - is it doesn’t just continue seeing/hearing etc when your physical body no longer does that, it’s a different level of existence.
