Having a catholic mass said for someone.

I'm a lapsed catholic but I want to have a mass said for someone who really believes but is going through a hard time.
I've got the paperwork to make my request, but have no idea how much to donate. I know it's what you can afford, but if I'm honest that is just so vague. Is £40 a typical sort of amount or much to little. Do be blunt!

In our parish, most give around £10, I gather.

Thank you so much for making it clear that it's an offering, not a fee.

I agree with the pp. £10 is fine. Up to £20 is within the normal range. Anything over £20 is excessive.

Brilliant, thanks so much!

It is an offering and the Mass will still be done if someone financially could not afford. The average is generally £5-£10 for those who can give something.
