Want to take dd to a Crib Service or a Christingle Service - what's the difference?

dd is 2 and I would like to take her to a children's church service today. The main parish church has a Christingle service and the smaller one (where she was dedicated) have a Crib Service.

Both seem to be aimed at little ones but having looked at some church websites, (these particular 2 don't have web sites) the crib service seems to imply that the children dress up as angels,stars etc.

Has anyone been to either and if so, what's the difference and do all the children dress up?

Don't know about dressing up, but we are taking dds to a crib service this afternoon which is aimed at under 5s. I decided this was more appropriate for their ages than a Christingle service, which involves all children getting an orange with a candle stuck in it, and is more like a normal carol service IME. I didn't really fancy trying to supervise my two with lit candles!

Thanks very much! Think I'd prefer to take her to the church where she was dedicated. We're not big church goers but I really want to do this.

Oh, and our crib service involves bringing a pressie for children in a women's refuge. This has been specifically requested but you might want to bear in mind that there may be a collection of some sort at your service.

Ours is called 'Crib and Christingle' so not sure of the difference! The Sunday school children dress up and as the story is told they put the characters in the scene and the christingle is only given out as you leave so they are not holding lit candles in the church.

It's a lovely service and our church, which is really big, is packed to the rafters so you have to get there early for a seat!
