Tell me about your self limiting beliefs

Outside of religious belief.

For instance, I constantly feel judged as a single woman and mother, by society and family, so I feel that that holds me back. I have promised myself to be more daring and to take more risks.

My family is all I have and I feel restricted by societal expectation. The things I wish to do are not that daring, but I find myself strangled with worry about how my actions and words will be perceived.

Perhaps I just need to get a grip.

Self-limiting beliefs? I don't think I have any in the sense you experience. I live with the knowledge that this life, our time on this earth, is very short and everything is temporary: as long as I do my best to live according to the Lord's commands, keep short accounts and have peace in my heart and a clear conscience, then I am living my best life. Matthew 6:27 "Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life"

How arrogant.

How arrogant.

Why is this arrogant?

SeismicJolt · 26/01/2024 10:17

@Thegreatestoftheseislove I was asking for perspectives outside of religious belief. I'm quite acquainted with what the bible tells us.

Why is this arrogant?

The whole "I know exactly what happens after I'll die and I never have any doubts" thing.

Not sure it's religion so much as mental health or even chat - maybe consider having the thread moved OP.

For me it's the belief that no one likes me or will like me. Stops me doing a lot of things.

How arrogant.

It’s not remotely arrogant.

I have this too! Although it’s more that I don’t believe I’d ever be anyone’s first choice. I feel like people would invite me for coffee / hire me for a job / choose me for their quiz team but only if the “better” options aren’t available.

That looks so sad written down! I have always felt like this, I would love to know where it comes from.

slithytoveisascientist · 26/01/2024 12:25

@starsinthenightskies childhood rejection? ASD? Not fitting in in the past?

That's all true for me. Stops me planning birthday celebrations, work events, anything where I would be the main focus.

Mysticguru · 26/01/2024 12:50

Only in the programmed and conditioned mind.

@blackwaterpark "How arrogant"

LOL. Thank you for your judgement. You are, of course, entitled to your opinion. How about you answer the opening post?

Oh, were you? I missed that disclaimer in your opening post. I thought you were inviting all thoughts from a religious/philosophical perspective. Oh well, nothing lost, nothing gained. Keep calm and carry on.
