Has anyone had a near death experience?

I'm interested why some people do and some don't.

I had one ages about seven whilst at the dentists for two teeth out. They used gas in those days and my airway collapsed. I found myself in a dark tunnel filled with Disney characters. All I can remember is feeling puzzled. There was no religious element to it.
