I find it offensive and I am a Christian, a fairly liberal laid back one.

LadyOfWaffle · 12/03/2008 13:16

I haven't seen it, before checking the link I thought you meant the "Though shall not use them to make my sister jealous" or something which is one thing, but from the sounds of that, it's pretty off. And I would say I am far from uptight about 'that sort of thing'. Is it banned now? It should be.

nickytwotimes · 12/03/2008 13:17

Can you do link again? I can't get it to work.

LadyOfWaffle · 12/03/2008 13:18

news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7291155.stm

copy and paste that

And I am sure I misspelt "though/thou".

It is in rather poor taste. I am also a liberal Christian and would find it tasteless whatever religion it was using.

SueBaroo · 12/03/2008 13:27

Yup, I was pretty about them. Ill-advised, and I'm very pleased the decision has been made that they're not on.

nickytwotimes · 12/03/2008 13:28

yorkie, there are other ads I've seen which I think are even more offensive! mainly ones with highly sexualised women in them, but this is more to do with being fed up of seeing women constantly sexualised than my religion tbh!

totalmisfit · 12/03/2008 13:32

it's a bit silly but i think our religion is big enough and old enough to withstand a little plagiarism from dubious sources

Nah, not really.

OverMyDeadBody · 12/03/2008 13:45

at god point

JingleyJen · 12/03/2008 13:46

It doesn't offend me but I do think that in the same way as cultural sensitivity is placed to thoughts about Islam and Judaism it should also be thought about Christianity.

I agree with totalmisfit.

beeper · 13/03/2008 21:06

To be perfectly honest I am not offended as there is no point. What God finds offensive is that people trample over the sacrifice of his son and refuse to acknowledge his existance.

God is God whether people use his name, the bible or whatever.

Every Knee will bow, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.

He is far and away above such things, when accused by pilate Jesus said nothing, its who he is that speaks not what people say about him.

Alambil · 14/03/2008 00:04

Yes, I find it offensive too - you'd never see such an advert with a Hindu or Muslim god in it... Why is Christianity allowed to be picked on in such a way?

This double standard makes me quite angry
