Do you have any experience of shamanism?

Have you ever been to see a shaman, or participated in a shamanic circle? If so, I'd be really interested to hear your experiences.

One friend of mine went to see a shaman and said she regretted it. For one thing she said it felt like someone walking around in her spiritual space, and she felt uncomfortable with that. For another, she said the shaman told her things about the future that she would have preferred not to know.

A different friend went to a shamanic circle and really enjoyed it.

I'm sure there are some charlatans masquerading as shamans, but I'm open to the idea that some shamans are doing something genuine. I don't know whether it's something I'd feel comfortable with, and would like to know more.

The only shamanic circles I have been to felt like cultural appropriation. So not for me.

I’ve done some guided Shamanic journeying. I found the concept interesting. But on the last one I did I had a message that this was the wrong path for me so I’ve never been back.

But check into it. It’s mostly culturally appropriated stuff and might not be suited to your cultural identity.

what are you hoping to get out of it?
