So all this religion was just one big hoax?

VickyA · 07/03/2008 13:30

Well I told a school inspector in my O level Scripture lesson that the book of Ezekiel must have been written by someone on drugs - lots of vivid images, colours, valley of the dry bones rising up etc...
It has to be said he blanched a bit (as did my Scripture teacher ) but I found (and still find) it a pretty reasonable explanation... But then I'm pretty rabidly agnostic, so will now retire to a quiet corner...

I think he had just been taking the Tablets.

It's been a long time since I've taken hallucinogenics, but I'm sure I never had a vision as boring as a list of 10 bad things that people shouldn't be allowed to do.

(I did once lose a number between 1 and 10 though.)

IorekByrnison · 07/03/2008 13:35

lol at Tablets! b-boom!

UnquietDad · 07/03/2008 13:36

Anyone would think I started this thread just so I could make that joke.

You did, didn't you?

UnquietDad · 07/03/2008 13:58

Good one, UqD, I'll pass it as my own

MaryBS · 07/03/2008 17:21

I'm surprised you didn't say he was "stoned"

totalmisfit · 13/03/2008 11:23

well if by 'opening the doors of perception' moses et al could gain religious experiences, i don't see it's a huge blow for the judeo-christian tradition. after all if you believe in god you believe he created everything. Including hallucinogens.
