My cousin just sent out invites to his dds christening in Wigan next month. He is catholic, not been in a church since he left home 20 years ago, wife is CofE and hasnt' been in a church since her own christening.
They are doing it 'to get her in a good school'. No intention of actually going to church, they are under the impression that just a christening is enough.
Wife has ds aged 11 now in last year of the catholic primary school who was baptised catholic but I don't think attendance was necessary then.
My cousin seems to think that their dd will come into the category of 'sibling attending the school' even though her half brother will have left 4 years before dd starts school. I think this child is taken to church by his grandparents when he stays at the weekends, at the churches in my area it has to be BOTH parents that attend with the child, not grandparents, and they have to sign a book that the verger brings out at the end of the service.
Just wondered if this is the same, or anything similar in the Wigan area then I can sit back and watch the fun in a few years when they are trying to persuade the priest to give their daughter a place at the catholic school.
