Anyone tried Scrying?

I came across a book on Scrying recently (mirror gazing more specifically) and been fascinated by the subject ever since. Curious if anyone has tried it and what was the experience?

Yes many times. It’s part of my spiritual practice.

I did it when I was drunk and my face became a man and it has freaked me out ever since.

Thank you both for responding!

@Elphame have you had any interesting experiences that you could share? (Either here or in a personal message)
and How you make this practice safe?
The book I read was Moody's, some of the stuff he describes sounds unbelievable but also pretty freaky. I really wanted to try it initially but having read the entire book, I now feel too anxious, hence asking others about their experiences.

@Pineappleredwine That's interesting, when I was searching about it online I read similar things. Some people saw their faces changing, or disappearing completely from the mirror. Some thought the changed faces might be from a past life, but who knows.

Well, I hope it wasn’t me in a past life because it was a pretty evil looking man.

I really wouldn’t do it unless you are thinking good thoughts with a positive mantra “I am good enough, I am special, I am amazing and now I am going to have a beautiful day.”

How much practice do you have in scrying generally? I'd suggest trying smoke or flame scrying, then using a bowl of water before trying with a mirror.

I rarely use a mirror for ordinary scrying as I inevitably "fall in" to them and travelling rather than things appearing to me. I have to concentrate to avoid this happening and that gets in the way of the work. This is a stage further on than ordinary scrying and I find it much more productive but it's not always what is wanted and can be frightening the first time it happens

If I want to stay firmly "this side" then I'll use a black mirror ( a TV screen works well if you don't have one or even a dark bowl filled with water). It works very well for "seeing".

@Pineappleredwine Interesting.. when the face changed, did it still have some of your look/features, or did it look completely different?
I agree with you about feeling positive and relaxed. That's why I haven't tried yet, because I know I wouldn't be.

@Elphame I have almost zero practice. I wanted to try only if/when I feel safe and comfortable, which hasn't happened yet. But I like your suggestion to start with smoke and flames, then a bowl. I think I'd be comfortable with that as I've already done things like concentration and gazing over candles. Also it doesn't seem as intimidating as a mirror. To be honest, had I not read Moody's book, I probably wouldn't feel so apprehensive of the mirror.
The TV screen is also a good idea, gives you a big screen I suppose and no need to buy a special black one. Thank you very much for the advice!
I can't quite imagine what it is to "fall into" a mirror or travel to the other side.. but it is considered to be a portal, so I guess other spirits (and yourself) can "travel" through it.

Sorry meant to reply to this days ago but got distracted...

I haven't read Moody but I had a quick look on line and the reviews are not encouraging so I wouldn't worry too much about him. I can honestly say I have never been frightened scrying although I've had a few WTF moments.

Definitely try with the flame/smoke then and get some confidence in the process. The mind is a strange thing and if you approach a scrying exercise afraid that you'll have a frightening experience then this may impact on your results. The teenage "Bloody Mary" game illustrates this rather well.

Approach it confidently and the experience will be much more positive. It's difficult to fake the confidence though (the universe sees straight through you!) so building up some before tackling the mirrors would definitely be beneficial.

If you'd like some tips and tricks then feel free to message me

@Elphame Thank you so much for all your advice and encouragement. I have a designated black bowl now, so will probably start with that. I might send you a PM too later as you've been so kind to offer and you seem to have a good knowledge to share :)
