I've just realised that I've left the hymn book at church - and the book I use to do the hymns......and that I have the Ash Wednesday service tonight at 7.30........for which I need to have chosen 4 hymns.

My mind has gone TOTALLY blank - I'm sure there must be some common (oldie ones - not modern ) hymns that entirely apt for the start of Lent but I can't think of them!

40 days and 40 nights
Lord Jesus, think on me
Christian, dost thou see them
My God I love thee, not because
O for a heart to praise my God
Father hear the prayer we offer
Dear Lord and Father of mankind

Thanks

I know that at least 3 of those are DEFINITELY in our hymn book and are known by the congregation.....shall write the list down on a piece of paper and take it with me - won't take 5 minutes to look up the numbers so that they can go up on the board/

no - I'm the organist - our Vicar is off sick (actually been admitted to Papworth hospital today for a few days for tests to see if they can finally find out what's been causing the problems).......so as we have visitng vicars who have NO idea what hymsn we know I'm in charge.

I was feeling rather pleased with myself, had sorted out the babysitter (DH at work), got dinner on the go early so that I can bath the DS's before babysitter takes over........and then realised we didn't have any hymns to sing
