Any Christians struggling with faith after mental health issues?

Between 2010 and 2014 I suffered 3 episodes of increasingly bad mental health. The last one lasted 3 months and I was off work with anxiety and depression.
This has had long term effects on my Christian faith.
Can anyone else relate that I can chat with please?

I’ve recently been hospitalised with my mental health so I know how rough it was but my faith was the only thing that kept me going, I knew I absolutely must have a miracle if I was ever going to get through it! I am absolutely here as a listening ear and to chat though! I know how rough mental health can be :( x

I don’t have a Christian faith anymore after a long journey through questioning my faith and anxiety/depression. What do you want to chat about? I’m sure there will be many here willing to chat.

I have suffered with mental health issues in the past. Each time it was my faith that pulled me through.
@didjesuspoop I hope you get well soon.

God just seemed absent during the whole thing. More and more I just see people's prayers unanswered and although I believe God exists, he seems very far away. It seems that somehow a whole lot of imagination is needed and once you don't have that, there is nothing.

Yes, I've been depressed for a good few years and I dropped my faith due to feeling so bad and negative. Extreme cynicism set in about all manner of things, including faith.

I'm on a new class of antidepressant now and feeling much better so I've started going back to church.

I do worry that my faith might be dependant upon my brain chemistry, but what can you do? 🤷

I've experienced the same doubts. I've read that everyone feels the same way sometimes and the answer is to just keep doing it - going to church, the rituals, prayers etc. Belief will follow. Also praying for faith helps. I don't like to pray to ask for things in particular because then it seems like I've reduced God to some pocket magician whom I expect to grant me things. I just try to keep it general.
