Anyone got any good Tarot spreads for tomorrow? I want to do a year ahead spread. I may have to just make one up - a year card and then twelve - one for each month.

HillsBesideTheSea · 30/10/2022 18:53

That is basically what my year ahead spread looks like tbh. Central theme for the year and then a card for each month clockwise around the central one starting at 12 o'clock position.

I have not picked up my cards in nearly a whole year. blimey. hadn't realised it was that long till i thought about it now

VioletCharlotte · 30/10/2022 19:38

I should really get my cards out, I'm struggling to get motivated to do anything at the moment. I think I'm so bogged down in work, I haven't got the headspace for anything else. Trenzalor I use the same spread as Hills for the year** ahead. Otherwise you could look at the year overall, rather than month by month, ask what am I leaving behind in the old year and what am I bringing with me into the year ahead? What's my challenge? What energy do I need to harness? What's the theme for the year? You can choose what questions and how many.

Hilarious. I love the pumpkins too, very cute! I hope you're feeling ok. I can relate to the feelings of despair and wanting to stay close to home, so sending solidarity! The world feels like a very uncertain place at the moment, it's no wonder we're all feeling out of sorts.

Thanks for this tip! I've never heard of that spread before but will try it tomorrow.

The cards pictured upthread were beautiful.

Thanks @HillsBesideTheSea and @VioletCharlotte I love The idea of laying it out as a clock.

speakout · 31/10/2022 06:54

Samhain Blessings dear sisters. I hope the year ahead brings you joy.

I love the spread too hills- thanks for the idea.
There are lots of spreads around, and perfectly valid to invent a spread too.
I sue Tarot most days, and today will be no exception.
Often just a single card draw, or a spread if I have more time.
I like to take draws for my close family members too, so five cards one for each of us. I don't tell them, but helps with my approach to see their energy and influences.
Could I ask for a a little thought today for my dear MIL. She has been beset by health problems of late and is in hospital critically ill.She needs heart surgery, but isn't stable enough to undergo at the moment, I hope today brings good news, but the family is prepared for the worst.
She is a fighter, a determined woman, and has been so supportive to me. She shouts from the rooftops that her daughter in law is a witch, she is proud of my path and will not tolerate anyone who criticises me. (unlike my own mother who is ashamed of me).
I am still feeling ill today, flu symptoms, headache and bad throat- OH has the same, not covid we have been testing every day.
We feel it would be unwise to visit MIL and risk spreading it to her.
So a quiet day here, the Royal Mail strike has been cancelled, so back to work.
I will be doing a healing ceremony for my MIL, and making a special supper. DD is coming over today too, so that will be great.

Happy Halloween/ Samhain

Speakout** sending healing energy to your MiL. She sounds like a wonderful woman. MiLs get a lot of grief on here, so it's heart warming to hear how positively you speak of her. I will light a candle for her. Love goes to you and your family ❤️

speakout · 31/10/2022 10:43

VioletCharlotte thankyou for your candle and love. X
That's a very inspiring message for us all. Reclaiming the power and voice that were taken from us.
I feel very blessed being alive now and not 300 years ago.
There is still hostility towards us who practice the craft, but we can speak, be free of fear.
I have set my ancestor altar today, not just for those ancestors that I have known, but for all the people that have come before me over eons of time.

Happy Samhain, sisters - @VioletCharlotte I love that and am pondering what I might do today!

MarieIVanArkleStinks · 31/10/2022 11:19

Brightest Samhain blessings to all. I'm so pleased and grateful to have found this lovely, welcoming thread just ahead of this special time.

@speakout - extra blessings and healing energy go out to your MiL.

Oh your photos have brought me joy this morning @MarieIVanArkleStinks !

Elphame · 31/10/2022 11:33

I will light a candle too for your MIL @speakout

Samhain was a few days ago by my tradition's method of calculating it but I'm just leaving to go and have lunch with a group of witches - I'm just wondering where I put my spider earrings!

Happy Hallowe'en!

667TheNeighbourOfTheBeast · 31/10/2022 14:09

Happy Halloween /Samhain 🎃 everyone.
@speakout So sorry to hear about your MIL sending healing thoughts. It’s so lovely to hear she has been so supportive of you. It’s hard you can’t go and visit I hope you and your husband feel better soon.
@MarieIVanArkleStinks really beautiful photos, my mantelpiece needs tidying I’ve got candles ready for this evening, to be honest I always feel like Samhain/ Halloween is a period of a few days at this time of year not just one day. Very low key for me just been to the forest this morning and will remember those that have passed later, both human and animal having lost my beloved dog this year.
Have got trick or treat sweets 🍭 ready but but Haribo not chocolate this year so I don’t end up eating them if no one comes 😊
We were in Burley near the New Forest on Saturday and saw an older lady fully dressed in “witches outfit” green face warts etc huge witchy hat , just strolling along with her husband/partner who wasn’t dressed up at all, think she even had a black rat handbag! Love how people really go to so much effort.

Aerwyna · 31/10/2022 18:56

Sending love and healing energy for your MIL speakout, I’m so sorry to hear she is unwell. Healing energy for you and OH too x

Blessed Samhain sisters, may the thinning of the veil bring valuable insights that shed light on fortuitous pathways for the year ahead

I hope everyone enjoyed Halloween /Samhain yestetrday- or whenever you celebrated.
Thanks for all the energy and good wishes for my MIL. She is holding on, being transferred to another hospital today with a view to surgery, which she needs, but they have to wait until she is a bit more stable before they can operate.
I am enjoying a quiet house today work is increasing, but I am not allowing myself to be pushed or panic( which can happen).
Good to see you Aerwyna, I love the print you posted. The underworld looks very cosy and inviting.
It's a blustery day here, windy with squalls- allowing myself a boost of central heating!
I too wish all my sisters here joy for the forthcoming year.

Unable to celebrate Samhain as planned due to being unwell. Frustrating as a hedgewitch not to be able to heal myself, but sometimes these things take time. Will be in Outer Hebrides this weekend( hopefully) so plan to have some solitude on remote beaches to get my energy levels back up

speakout · 02/11/2022 07:01

dementedma sorry to hear you have been unwell- hope you are on the mend soon. I am still nor great, but taking myself off to yoga class this morning- I need some head space. I will take things easy though and nor push it.
The Hebrides is wonderful, I have visited a few Islands, all very magical. So remote and isolated- medicine for the witch.
I have woken after dreaming about an ex of mine, feeling a longing and wistful for those years of torrential love. He was so under my skin and breaking up with him was sudden, painful, traumatic, and not what either of us wanted. But circumstances forced us apart and in hindsight a good thing for me.
It is many years later, and both of us settled elsewhere but these dreams hit me sometimes with such crashing intensity of the passion we shared- I wake with a deep sense of loss and longing. I wish I could rid him from my soul- to release the pain and sadness. Love is a powerful force.
Not sure what today will bring, work was starting to get a little hectic towards the end of yesterday, November can be unmanageble in terms of orders, so I have closed up to have a breather from posting deadlines and make new stock.
My DD is not working for the next few days, so I need to make space for her too in my schedule.
It is tempting to work on and enjoy the thrill of being super busy, but other things start to fall apart- food, housework, and just making sure I am balanced must be factored in.
Enjoy your day sisters.

That sounds like a wonderful trip. Hope it does the trick.

I'm a nervous wreck. I'll be heading to California for a week tomorrow and for the first time I'm going to have to drive in LA. I'm all but packed and ready but feel like I've drunk far too much coffee (which I haven't - Waitrose Peppermint, Gingko and Nettle tea only).

I'm dreading the airports and dreading the drive to the Airbnb so any calming vibes would be appreciated!

VioletCharlotte · 02/11/2022 15:25

Speakout* yes, I have an ex who haunts my dreams. It's very unsettling isn't it? It always takes me a while to shake the feeling. I like Elphame*'s suggestion of a cord cutting ceremony.

Dementedma so sorry you're unwell. You're trip sounds exciting though. I have such a pull to Scotland and would love to spend some time travelling around. The Outer Hebrides sound wonderful, so wild and remote.

Good luck for your trip Elphame. I just admit, I've never been brave enough to drive abroad (I can't get my head round driving on the 'wrong' side of the road!) Im sure you'll be absolutely fine though. Is it a work trip or holiday?

dementedma · 02/11/2022 21:07

Thank you sisters. Have visited the islands before and also Orkney and Shetland. Orkney stole my heart. The most spiritually thin place I have ever been. The standing stones at Ring of Brodgar are mind blowing...quite literally. I lost all sense of time and place,I could feel the energy in them. I was in an absolute daze as I left and one of the guides was watching me,smiling. She touched my arm and said " For those of us who know, the veil is very thin here".

Conversely the standing stones on Lewis at Callenish have a horrible negative energy. They brood and glower and are deeply unwelcoming. Terrible things have happened there. I avoid them.

I have an ex who also haunts my dreams speakout. It sounds as though the end of that relationship didn’t give you closure. I believe I have a deep soul connection with my ex. It’s better that we split up, but there is still a very deep connection which transcends space and time. Perhaps it’s the same for you. A cord cutting ceremony might really help.

MarieIVanArkleStinks · 02/11/2022 22:23

@dementedma your experiences on Orkney sounded amazing. I've also felt this in a few places, but few more strongly than at one of the geysers in Iceland; I think it was Strokkur, close to the ridge between the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates.

The emptiness in that place positively vibrated - despite the tourists dotted around - I felt I could almost touch a magnetic energy there that I can't begin to describe. Even observing the sky felt like an otherworldly experience. You can't capture it on camera, but the white linear clouds on the image stretched all the way across from horizon to horizon in a huge, bell-shaped arc - even the arch of the sky looked more pronounced and higher than usual. It was incredible; a place I'll never forget, although I'll never know if others experienced it in the same way. In the end I just lay down on the red earth, staring up into the sky. I'm sure some of the people I was travelling with thought I was completely eccentric - or more probably crackers.

If ever I've experienced 'spiritually thin' - although I was unaware what this might have meant at the time - I experienced it there.

@speakout, I hope your mother-in-law is doing okay. Safe travels to all those hitting the road/air (I am admittedly quite envious!)
