Recently started going back to church and newly pregnant - feeling awkward

Hi,

I very recently started going to church after a decade plus of not going. I just felt a strong pull to attend church so attended my local church on a whim one Sunday.

However I've recently found out that I'm pregnant (very early days) DP and I are happy but I'm feeling a bit awkward about attending in the future when I have a very obvious bump and no wedding ring. Has anyone else been in this situation? Did anyone say anything?

Also will I be able to get the baby christened or does the baby need to be born in wedlock for that?

Thanks

You would be welcome at my church any time. And in my denomination you do not have to be married before the baby is baptised. I hope you will continue to feel welcomed and loved at your church

Congratulations!
Honestly no one will bat an eyelid about not being married.

I'm sure everyone would just be happy and pleased for you, both about your pregnancy, and also about you going back to church.

Keep going back, it's obviously the right time :)

Don't worry about coming to church as an unmarried mother-to-be. I doubt anyone would be fazed.

Thanks all,
I'm not ashamed of the baby, it is what it is but as an introvert I already find church a bit awkward, I just wouldn't know what to say if people ask anything

It's hard to say without know what's your church is like! They vary so much even within denominations. Nevertheless, you should absolutely be welcome.

Nobody cares, it's the 21st century
