Sorry always on so late, always knackered, saw your message last night but stressing myself on another thread so didn't say hi.

Hi! I'm no buddhist scholar but have practised the buddhism of Nichiren Daishonin with Soka Gakkai for years. The teaching of Nichiren Daishonin is based upon the Lotus Sutra, Shakyamuni's (Siddartha) final teaching. This is the one when, for example, he claims women to be equal to men in their potential to reveal their Buddhahood (become enlightened). It's an unusual organisation in that it is completely lay, no priests etc. and in the UK at least, the members tend to be deeply caring, funny and wise. You can go almost anywhere in the world and find a wonderful group of SGI buddhists.

We chant morning and evening and create actual tangible change in our lives. Our practice is about overcoming our negative tendencies, becoming courageous and shaping our destiny. Its about understanding the true greatness of ourselves and in so doing, recognizing the same potential in others.

Happy to chat with you stressteddy!

Hello - thank you so much for coming over to say hello
This sounds lovely - just what I am trying to get into. It's the "overcoming negative tendencies" that I am particularly interested in.
Potential in self and others is also a great way of viewing the world
Thank you so much for sharing this with me and I hope to catch up again soon

I'm off to do some searching on google now!
