Church in Edinburgh?

Does anyone go to a nice church in Edinburgh? I've never really been to church much, don't have much of a clue as to what flavour of Christianity would suit me, I just want to find a place where I can worship with others and maybe find some community. Is it okay to try different churches and see what fits? Any suggestions welcome!

It is absolutely OK to try a number of different churches to see what fits. Many churches now have websites and they are a great way to get a flavour of what a church is like before visiting. Personally, I'd try out a number of different denominations and also types of churches as you may be surprised at what you like. I always thought I'd like somewhere that was very contemporary and lively in feel but have ended up in a more traditional church in Edinburgh as it just suited me better.

Thank you. I went to one this morning that seemed nice but want to try a few, although I also think I should probably go more than once to get an idea. I think something more traditional would suit me, but I don't really know. Could I ask which denomination you are?

What are you looking for?
We have Buddhis, Hindu and sikh temples, mosques,, jewish synagogues, mormon and catholic chapels, quaker and brethern meeting houses, a church of satan, baptist and pentacostal, Jehovah witness churches, episcopalian, presbeterian, anglican, neopagan, Shinto.
Maybe if you decide which of nay may suit it will help narrow your serch.

I was clear in my OP that I'm talking about Christian churches. But yes, I'm aware there's still a lot of options within that, which is why I was asking if anyone has a nice church they go to which they would recommend me visiting.

Some churches will have different services at different times. Eg Ps and Gs ( it's St Paul's and George's I think but searching ps and gs Edinburgh will get the website and FB) church has a family service, a traditional lunchtime one and a more relaxed studenty one in the evening. You could try all three and see which suited. It's Episcopal which is like church of England. St Mary's Cathedral will be more traditional.

When I am in Edinburgh, I go to St Paul's & St George's (P&Gs) in York Place (city centre).

Thank you. Not been there yet, but have been to St Mary's Cathedral which is connected. They do choral evensong which is just so beautiful.
