Hi, I recently went to a church wedding. It was a beautiful day and as I hadn’t been to a church before I felt something very strange but peaceful inside me. I don’t know anything about the United Reformed Churches .
I have tried to google but don’t understand which domination this church belongs to. Does anyone know what is the domination for United Reformed Church. Thanks 🙏

CofE

But they grew out of the dissenter CoE groups a few generations back. I've had some dealings/links with them in the past but I'm not religious myself, my understanding is that they are more progressive and permissive than high Anglican and more traditional denominations.

Thank you very much. I think I might try morning morning. I hope they won’t mind.

The URC is not CofE/Anglican. It is a merger of three Protestant denominations, first the English Presbyterians and Congregationalists and later the Churches of Christ. They are non-conformist but all this means is that they are not an establishment church, like the CofE or the Church of Scotland. Services are usually the typical hymn sandwich and you won’t find any “bells and smells”, the focus is more on the Bible albeit not in a literal sense.

What Ghislaine said.
Their denomination is URC, not CofE.
Protestant yes, CofE no.

That's interesting. My friend was brought up church if christ. Didn't appreciate they'd been absorbed into the URC.

Good explanation! I did of course mean protestant but was distracted trying to sort early flights back to the UK Grin
