Does anyone actually, non-ironically, genuinely believe in horoscopes?

Because I'd been under the impression that even people who enjoy them know that they are "just a bit of fun", with no basis in fact.

But I've been reading a debate on another forum where someone is actually arguing for real belief in them. Makes me wonder what century we are living in.

yes i do in a way. they've always been right.

i don't think it's a thing men can understand really.

Not the newspaper, fortune-telling type horoscopes but I am keeping an open mind on the part where you have your charts done based on the time and place you are born, to outline your personality.

I once saw a South Bank Show ages ago where two nuns worked out when Jesus was likely to have been born and did his chart and apparently it was a unique, one in a million chart with the famous nativity star in the middle which only comes round very rarely. It was interesting but although I would like to have my birth chart done professionally to see how accurate it is I am not sure how much truth there is in it.

I don't believe in it. I know loads of people with my birth sign who are nothing like me and our lives are very different.

Horoscopes are cynically designed to be 'always right'. Did anyone see that thing on TV where a lot of people were presented with 'their' horoscope and loads said it was right... but it wasn't their horoscope at all, the same text was used for everyone regardless of when they were born.

and as they say, theres one born every minute...

Of course UQD, the only reason we don't believe it is because we are talking about those silly ones in newspapers. If we all had our horoscopes done by professional astrologers we would know it is, in fact, all true.

With UQD here, nothing robotic about it.
Horoscopes have no basis and saying doesn't take all the wonder out of the world. In fact knowing how a rainbow works doesn't stop me going ooooh look dd a rainbow, look! look!

The Buddhists had their own astrology which I'm sure they genuinely believed in (and probably some still do). But apparently the nice thing about buddhism is that they don't hang on to stuff if its proven to be untrue and the Dali Lama (heavily paraphrased) said, nope, modern science now shows this is all wrong.

santa's fun. astrology is (if you're very easily entertained fun. But grown ups actually believing in either is simply delusional

I can't see how my future is determined by where huge lumps of rock in the solar system happened to be when i was born.

It just seems so daft.

I think some less-educated people like to cheer themselves up by dreaming of the nice things that will happen to them without them doing anything.

Bit like playing the lottery i guess.

Oh it's like all those apparently normal people who go for 'psychic readings' and suchlike. Utter bollox.

I mean... if Psychic Fairs were so great, why do they have to advertise them? Tell me that!
