Interested in hearing what sorts of things others like to do to mark the Winter Solstice.
I'm thinking in advance so I can plan.

Once or twice I’ve visited my friend and we’ve had a little bonfire in her garden. Not really sure if such things are allowed anymore!

Also, the law states you must listen to Solstice Bells by Jethro Tull.

My winter solstice tradition is to get excited that this is the year I might see an amazing sunset on the Maeshowe webcam, only to discover that, just like every year before, it's either cloudy or the webcam is offline.

This year, I'm hopeful of some good sunrise/sunset virtual tours on Heygo, as there were in June for the summer solstice.

Hi OP, I don't know if you are aware but there is a long running pagan thread here on Mumsnet- www.mumsnet.com/Talk/philosophy_religion_spirituality

Lots of talk about the winter soltice when it come around, the sabbats, , and lots of other festivals and magical chat! many of us getting excited about Mabon at the moment. A warm welcome awaits if you want to join.

I'll be part of a big Saturnalia party, it starts Dec 17th and goes on if you like until the 23. Basically it's the original Italian Roman winter agrarian festival, remembering a golden age with King Saturn where there was no want. So there's lots of traditional activities: food, drink, gift-giving and gambling;-)
