Does she make anyone else's blood boil or is it just me?

She was on Radio 2 this lunchtime and came across as quite possibly the most disagreeable person you'd ever want to be stuck in a lift with. Shrill, strident, screeching, arrogant, patronising, deluded, rude, and those are just her good points.

Oh was that the shriekey Catholic woman who told everyone else they were deluded?

If it was, she was the embodiment of everything that is wrong with religion, mistaking dogma for faith.

I went back to bed with a cold this morning. She woke me up like a cold shower!

DarrellRivers · 30/11/2007 20:00

She was dreadful uuuurgh
Made me want to be atheist
and she kept on interrupting the peaceful secular chap
where did they find her?

Fubsy · 30/11/2007 20:01

Oh dear - just googled her. Now I feel even worse. her bibliography is scary!

Tinker · 30/11/2007 20:02

Oh, I heard this. There really couldn't be a horror emoticon strong enough for this woman.

UnquietDad · 30/11/2007 20:09

The kind of person you just do not want to argue with. Not because she's good at it - she just deliberately presses atheist buttons in the most shrill and irksome way and seems to get off on it.

You cna t discuss things with someone like that - they are so sure theirs is the only way, they will just talk over you until you give up, leaving them feeling vindiccated!

I really hate people who think that they can win arguments just by making the most noise.

(I suppose we should be grateful she mostly sticks to writing!)

Tinker · 30/11/2007 20:20

You can't argue with her about anything because she'd have no concept that she could be wrong. And then she resorts to personal insults. Infuriating but good radio; alwasy brought on as the Rent-A-Mad-Gob

UnquietDad · 30/11/2007 20:23

The "oh don't be so silly, you'll learn" way she speaks is worryingly like my mother.

[thumping-head-against-keyboard emoticon]

depressed now

UnquietDad · 01/12/2007 16:28

I've posted a comment to her blog - it awaits "approval" [trembles]...

MaryBS · 01/12/2007 16:49

I've never heard of her, anyone want to fill me in?

UnquietDad · 01/12/2007 17:10

her blog

OP posts:
Fubsy · 01/12/2007 22:00

So UQD, where you accepted?

Do you think you will get on her list of men who ought to be bishops?

Lio · 01/12/2007 22:05

I heard her on R2. She was VILE. I'm sure that any Christians listening were probably pounding their head against the radio as she destroyed any argument towards atheists showing respect to those who have a faith.

UnquietDad · 01/12/2007 22:17

My comment is there.

I wasn't surprised to hear her going on in that way - depressed, but not surprised.

OP posts:
Fubsy · 01/12/2007 22:24

Well, you werent the only one to think she was over the top.

Im very tempted to post on her bit about the teddy - just what exactly does she mean when she says perhaps one day everyone will have a christian name instead of a foreign one?

UnquietDad · 01/12/2007 22:28

What she means, and doesn't really even try that hard to disguise, is that the One True Religion (also conveniently the brand she happens to support) will one day conquer the world and force everybody to be Good Christians (even better, Good Catholics) whether they like it or not. When this happens, all wars, famine, pestilence, homosexuality, deviance, living in sin and other Things Joanna Does Not Like will disappear overnight and be replaced by some form of paradise in which we all do as we're told and like it.

Gawd, she has Ishoos.

Religion as 'Being proper'. [vomit]

Lio, you're so right. It drives me completely mad that she is typical of religious believers that get media coverage.
